A Ordinary Uncle’s Reality Check
I’m just a normal uncle living in Defence, Lahore. I run a small electronics shop in Liberty Market. Every evening I sit with my three cups of doodh patti and scroll through WhatsApp groups…
Same videos every day criminals getting garlands, heroes getting ignored.
That’s when this quote hit me:
“When a nation pardons its criminals faster than it rewards its heroes, it teaches the next generation that corruption is not a crime but a career.” — George Onagbeni Sylvester
And bhai, this is Pakistan in 2025.
We just fell to 135 out of 180 on the Corruption Perceptions Index. Score: 27/100.
Nobody in power seems stressed.
The Ugly Truth About NAB and FIA
How NAB Became a VIP Lounge
NAB was made in 1999 to catch the big thieves.
After the 2022 law change, NAB can only touch cases above 500 million.
Anything smaller? Sent to FIA or police, where the file sleeps.
From 2022 to June 2025:
– 771 big cases closed or transferred
– 1,200+ plea bargains in five years
– 480 billion “recovered”, but most crooks kept half their wealth
A minister accused of 15 billion returned 6 billion, paid a small fine, and now appears on talk shows giving “governance lessons.”
Meanwhile, a Rescue 1122 volunteer who saved 43 people is still waiting for her Rs 50,000 award.
File: “under process”.
FIA Is No Better
Two fresh 2025 examples:
1 — Faisalabad: customs officer caught taking 45m bribe → bail in 15 days
2 — Quetta: passport clerk selling fake passports → case closed in 3 months
But teachers and government schools get nothing. Funds “diverted”.
When the Youth Lose Faith
My Nephew’s Dream Died
Ahmed scored 94% and wanted to be a doctor.
This year he said:
“Chacho, doctor ban’na ho to 2 crore lagtay hain. Better to join politics.”
He isn’t wrong.
A survey of 3,000 young Pakistanis:
– 58% say political connections = quickest money
– 11% believe in hard work
They’re only copying what they see.
Corruption Has Become a Career Path
The Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming a VIP Thief
Year 1: get on “approved vendor list”
Year 2: start taking 5–10% tea money
Year 3: move to 20%
Year 5: become advisor, MNA, senator, governor
In 2025, 74 billion in emergency contracts went to 17 favourite companies. No tenders.

Time to Pick a Side
The real Pakistan isn’t in VIP courts or bulletproof convoys.
It lives in:

– the nurse working night shifts
– the soldier freezing on Siachen
If we keep clapping for crooks and ignoring heroes, one day heroes will stop existing.
