Gaza War – A Helpless Cry for the Oppressed

Gaza War – A Helpless Cry for the Oppressed

By Ch. Haroon Rashid

Every day I see the faces of children in Gaza, and my heart feels heavy. I sit in comfort while they sit under bombardment. I want to help, but my hands feel tied.

In Gaza, homes are turned to rubble while families search for each other in the dust. The world debates politics, but the innocent civilians in Gaza bleed in silence. Children who should be playing with toys are instead learning the sound of bombs. Mothers hold their babies with trembling hands, unsure if they will see tomorrow. Fathers stand helpless, unable to protect their families from the ongoing Gaza atrocities.

And here I am, far away. If I could, I would stand with them, shield their children, share their hunger. But here I am, only able to pray and write. This is my conflict — my soul burns with their pain, but my body cannot reach them.

I may not stand on the streets of Gaza, but I can use my voice. I can write, I can share, I can refuse to be silent. Silence is complicity. My pen is weak compared to their suffering, but it is the only sword I carry.

(For deeper reflection, see our article: Gaza: Humanity Has Died.)

Yet in this helplessness, I remind myself of Allah’s promise. Allah says:

“And We wished to show favor to those who were oppressed in the land, and to make them leaders and inheritors.”

(Surah Al-Qasas 28:5)

And He also reminds us:

“Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.”

(Surah An-Nahl 16:128)

“Do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror.”

(Surah Ibrahim 14:42)

These verses give me strength. They remind me that the cries of Gaza do not vanish into the night. They rise to the throne of Allah, and He is with the oppressed.

(For the painful reality of hunger and siege, read: Gaza Starvation: A Slow Poisoning Process.)

One day the children of Gaza will laugh again under the sun. Until then, I will carry their pain in my heart and my words, because even if I cannot reach them, I will never abandon them.

But this is not only my responsibility — it is ours. Each of us can raise our voice for Gaza in some way:

  • by sharing the truth of Palestine’s suffering,
  • by expressing our grief,
  • by raising awareness of the Gaza war,
  • by donating if possible,
  • or simply by praying sincerely.

No action is too small. What matters is that we are not silent. Let us all stand with Gaza and Palestine, in whatever way we can, until justice is done and peace returns.
