Pakistan Army Destroys Afghan Posts and Tanks After Unprovoked Border Fire in Kurram

ISLAMABAD, Oct 15, 2025 — The Pakistan Army has confirmed that its forces destroyed multiple Afghan border posts and tanks after Afghan troops opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani positions along the Kurram sector early Wednesday morning.

In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and broadcast across national media, the military said Pakistani troops gave a “befitting and effective response” to Afghan aggression, resulting in heavy losses on the opposite side.

“Afghan forces initiated unprovoked firing on Pakistani border positions in the Kurram sector. Pakistan Army troops responded decisively, targeting enemy posts and tanks with precision fire,” the ISPR said.

According to Geo News, ARY News, and Express News, ISPR also shared aerial and satellite visuals showing blown-up Afghan positions and burning armored vehicles along the frontier. The imagery, displayed during live bulletins, showed smoke plumes and destroyed bunkers across the Afghan side of the border.

The exchange of fire reportedly began before dawn near Kharlachi and extended to adjacent mountain ridges. Pakistani positions remained fully secure, while Afghan Taliban fighters were seen abandoning several damaged outposts, leaving behind weapons and vehicles.

Border crossings at Torkham and Kharlachi were temporarily closed amid heightened alert. No civilian casualties were reported on the Pakistani side.

Afghan officials, meanwhile, accused Pakistan of cross-border aggression — a claim Islamabad rejected, reiterating that the retaliatory fire came only after unprovoked attacks by Afghan forces.

While Pakistani media aired what were described as satellite images provided through official military sources, independent verification from commercial providers such as Maxar Technologies or Planet Labs is still awaited.
